Moving
We are in the process of moving to another rental, starting Friday so everything is in boxes, or in random places. Just wanted you all to know that is why things will be pretty silent on my end for a few days. Also, I hope that once we move, then I'll be able to post more actual pictures of us, because then I'll be able to find the camera... and the computer... and has anyone seen Derek?

Fashion....(fill in the blank)
Yesterday I witnessed a unique look that I don't think I'd ever seen before, nor did I expect too, other than on a true mountain man: The infamous Coonskin hat.
Right before my eyes, casually strolling out of Safeway to his car was a proud, nonchalant man sporting the coon skin, complete with tail dangling jauntily behind one ear. It may have been the last sighting of the dying race of head warmers...

Can you say you've seen this bold look?

...And another....
Here is another fun thing for you. I recieved it from a friend at work, and it made me laugh so hard! It's a phone call from a man in Texas who witnessed a car accident that involved 4 elderly women. It was so popular when they played it on CHUM FM that they had to put it on their site.
I still don't have the linking thing down, it won't create a link directly to the site, so you'll have to copy and paste, but listen to it, its great! (BTW if someone wants to leave a comment on how to correctly insert a link, that would be great!)

Wanna good laugh?
Derek and I love listening to this comedian, and thought we'd share a taste with you. The best thing about this guy is that his jokes are clean, and his language. He has never had any inappropriate material, and I think that's a rare thing in the comedy business, so here you go! Introducing....Brian Regan!

Family Games

It's always fun when my family gets together to play games. We love to play any kind of games, wether its board, card, or acting kind of games. Recently I had the chance to play with some of my siblings, so I thought I'd tell you about it.
For Easter, my husband Derek and I drove up to Newport and spent the evening with my parents and two youngest siblings, Ian and Nancy. We had a yummy dinner (BBQ'd steak and baked potatoes with salad and rolls- a break from the traditional ham, but still good. Especially the way my dad BBQ's steak), ate some Easter candy, and then Ian, Nancy, Derek and I had a Super Mario Brother's fest on the old Nintendo. It was so much fun. We sat on Nancy's bed in her room and took turns playing when someone died. I havent' played that in so long, and so I was a little rusty (like I was ever really that good at it!) Lots of fun!
Then yesterday I got a call from Kim. She had called me on her cell phone, but she had Jamie and Shaina on 3-way calling on her home phone. She wanted to know if I wanted to play Ticket-to-Ride with them (a really fun board game, which you can also play online). My response: "Heck yes I do!" But first they wondered if they could get me in on the conference call, if Shaina called me on her phone. Amazingly, it worked! There were four of us, but wait, let's try one more person- Jamie called Warren. We now had 5 people on the phone all able to hear each other! It was crazy, but fun. That was the five oldest in our family all talking. Then we played Ticekt to ride online, which Kim won. Ahhh, good times. Anyway, the point is I love playing games, and it's espcially fun when I can do it with my family.

Me Tarzan, you Jane

I just finished a very good book, which I have read several times. It is Tarzan of the Apes, by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Now, when I was younger I had no interest in this book which we had on the shelf, for I was swayed by those cheesy black-and-white movies made about Tarzan and Jane. Alas, I wasted many years where I could have been reading more Tarzan! The books are in no way cheesy, and in fact are very well written.
My mom was who got me interested, when one summer she instituted, "Quiet Time". I think she needed a break from all the kids that came over during the summer, and for two hourse after lunch it was just us kids at home and we would listen as she read. I was reluctant at first, becuase I had my own books to read, but I found myself drawn into the story, and soon, I had commandeered the book and finshed it on my own.
I believe there are 22 books in the series, all about Tarzan, and his adventures. They are out of print, and so hard to come by, but every now and then you can find some at a 2nd hand book store. The first couple can still be found at most libraries. Any way, I am including an excerpt, and hope you are intrigued- Enjoy!
"...The tribe of anthropoids over which Kerchak ruled with an iron hand and bared fangs, numbered some six or eight families, each family consisting of an adult male with his females and their young, numbering in all some sixty or seventy apes.
Kala was the youngest mate of a male called Tublat, meaning broken nose, and the child she had seen dashed to death was her first; for she was but nine or ten years old.
Notwithstanding her youth, she was large and powerful--a splendid, clean-limbed animal, with a round, high forehead, which denoted more intelligence than most of her kind possessed. So, also, she had a great capacity for mother love and mother sorrow.
But she was still an ape, a huge, fierce, terrible beast of a species closely allied to the gorilla, yet more intelligent; which, with the strength of their cousin, made her kind the most fearsome of those awe-inspiring progenitors of man....
...The King ape turned his attention toward the little cradle; but Kala was there before him, and when he would have grasped the child she snatched it herself, and before he could intercept her she had bolted through the door and taken refuge in a high tree.
As she took up the little live baby of Alice Clayton she dropped the dead body of her own into the empty cradle; for the wail of the living had answered the call of universal motherhood within her wild breast which the dead could not still.
High up among the branches of a mighty tree she hugged the shrieking infant to her bosom, and soon the instinct that was as dominant in this fierce female as it had been in the breast of his tender and beautiful mother--the instinct of mother love--reached out to the tiny man-child's half-formed understanding, and he became quiet.
Then hunger closed the gap between them, and the son of an English lord and an English lady nursed at the breast of Kala, the great ape."
(this is from the first book in the series: Tarzan of the Apes. You can find the first four books online at this address:

Oh, and don't judge this book by its cover! Look at those muscles!
